All Stars announced
July 19| Catcher Gerardo Hernandez (West Virginia Tech), outfielder Mike Lang (Rutgers University), and pitchers Ed Bach (UMBC), Jordan Cudney (Belmont Abbey), and Wade Newman (Winthrop University) were selected to participate in the 4th Annual Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game. The teams will consist of players from the Alexandria Aces, Bethesda Big Train, Herndon Braves, and the Thunderbolts against players from the College Park Bombers, the Maryland Redbirds, the Rockville Express and Youse’s Orioles. The game will be at Shirley Povich Field in Bethesda on Tuesday July 22 at 7:30 pm. It will be preceded by the Third Annual Home Run Derby starting at 5:30. Admission prices are $7 per adult and $3 per child under 12. Kids wearing youth baseball or softball jerseys will get into the All-Star Game for free.

Tbolts lose 4-2; play Youse's Orioles on July 9
July 7 |The Thunderbolts lost to the Big Train 4-2 on Sunday night at a wet Blair Stadium. The Thunderbolts out-hit the Big Train 10-3, but also gave up 10 walks (3 intentional) and committed three errors. Brett Conner (William & Mary) and Jabari Graham (Alcorn State) each had two hits. Matt Trent (Richmond) gave up one earned run over six innings, but ended up taking the loss. The team's record is now 11-12. BOXSCORE.


Tbolts win 6-1; Play Big Train tonight
July 6 | The Thunderbolts ended their four-game losing streak with a 6-1 over the Maryland Redbirds on Saturday at Blair in the first game of a doubleheader. Billy Barber (Richmond) hit his third home run of the season in the fourth inning with Jabari Graham (Alcorn State) on base to give the Thunderbolts all the runs they needed. Dusty White (Wingate) pitched 4 scoreless innings to pick up the win. BOXSCORE

In the second game, the score was tied at three apiece in the seventh inning when the game was suspended because the lights were to be turned out. The game will be completed at a later date.
