For the second day in a row, the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts lost by a deficit of 11, this time falling to the Vienna River Dogs 11-0 at Blair Stadium.
The T-Bolts were only able to muster three hits and one walk off of Vienna starter Mark Gunst (James Madison) and company, while the River Dogs cruised to victory using 16 hits to score 11 runs off of T-Bolts starter Conner Chasanov (Delaware), and the T-Bolts bullpen.
After a scoreless first inning, Chasanov was only able to last another 1.1 innings, giving up 5 earned runs in that time span. Kevin Lachance (Maryland Baltimore County) brought in the first two runs of the game, and went 4-6 on the night for the River Dogs.
In the third, former T-Bolt Anthony Gatto’s (Maryland Baltimore County) sac fly brought in the third River Dog run of the game, followed by a Mike Sciorra (James Madison) single to bring in the final two runs of the inning.
The River Dogs scored a run each in the fourth, fifth, and sixth inning, to bring the score to 8-0 at the end of the sixth. For the River Dogs, Gunst had a stellar outing, going six innings, striking out 5 while only giving up two hits and no runs. After a scoreless 7th inning, the River Dogs scored 3 more runs to bring the score to 11-0, led by Gatto’s RBI single and run.
The T-Bolts (0-2) will take on the Baltimore Redbirds (5-0) at Calvert Hall HS, looking for their first win of the season on Monday at 6:30. En-Sih Huang (National Taipei UPES) will be toeing the rubber for the Bolts, vs. the Redbirds Jordan Carr (North Carolina Asheville).
